Tire size help
 

Hello. I was hoping to get some ideas of what size rubber to get for my wheels.

My car is a 85.5

The wheels are Kenisis

Front 8J x 17 ET 47

Rear 9.5J x17 ET 52

For now my car isn't lowered, but if I do it will just be some 1.5" springs.

I've been looking on tirerack, but don't quite know what would work.

I'm looking by price, and plan on spending between 475 - 600 bucks.

Right now I'm riding on repro Turbo twists.

Front 7J x 17 ( don't know the ET ) 225-45-17

Rear 9J x 17 ( don't know the ET ) 245-40-17

245s in front and 275s in the rear are probably what you're looking for.

I'm using Michelin Pilot Sports, and they are wonderfully sticky, wet or dry. Probably can't get them within your projected budget.

+1 on those tires, they were nice on my first 944.

what series should I look for? 40's, 45's, 50's?

I have Michelin Pilots on my e38. Rides like a dream.

225-45-17 front 255-40-17 rear is very close to original tire diameter.

You're gonna need spacers with that first set of wheels, 85.5 is early offset.... good luck Joe.

225 45 17 and 255 40 17 is ideal for the car and the right diameter for your speedo

ps:your base is 195 65 15 , that is the original 944 tire size and not 215 60 15 that was added later as an option and is off by a minimum of 0.7% .
With 195 65 15 and 255 40 17 my speedo is dead on with the gps up to 120mph.

The fronts don't seem to have issues. The rears are kinda close to the spring plate bolts and a seam in the fender well. it could use an extra 10mm. But we'll see.

joe, if i were to put these on an early turbo car would these fit easier?

86 turbo is still early offset, any 87 and later 944 have the same offset as those wheels. if you're not tracking the car you can run spacers with longer wheel studs of course! Sorry for the delay
