Seafoam

Has anyone used Seafoam in their car, and if so what was the outcome.

It cured a dead fuel injector in an old maxima I used to drive...

Great stuff!

I have only used it in my gas.

I've heard good things. I was actually about to try and get some. I used the STP full treatment from the local store in the tank once, can't say I noticed a difference. Apparently Seafoam can be used multiple ways. In the oil, the tank or straight into a vacuum tube. I don't know which tube to use that would drain evenly to all cylinders like their instructions say however.

The full treatment includes all of the above. The video I watched used the brake booster vacuum line. Every thing I have read about it has been favorable. I wonder why it is not more popular.

yea pour slowly into brake booster vacuum while engine running. turn off engine. let soak for 10 minutes, then proceed to smoke up the whole block. warn your neighbors, before they call the fire dept thinking its a fire (yea...it happened)

When you say brake booster vacuum line, do you mean where that check valve is? I replaced all my vacuum lines, the one facing front coming from the brake booster, back to the check valve and then to the engine.. or? Speaking of this, I got a bottle of seafoam today, and put a bottle of techron into the tank.

EDIT: What causes the white smoke? i have read that not everybody experiences the big billows of smoke.

Everyone who puts it directly into the intake (via a vacuum line) experiences the white smoke. That's just the seafoam burning. That doesn't happen when you put it into the crankcase because you're not actually burning the seafoam, and it doesn't happen when you put it into your tank because it's so diluted that there's not enough of it burning at once to cause any noticeable smoke.

You can actually do the same thing with water. I like to put a valve on the end of the brake booster line, hold the throttle at 3-4k rpms, and slowly open the valve to suck in the seafoam (or water). Either way it's basically steam cleaning your cylinders, but Seafoam has solvents (but water is free).

Oh, and be careful not to suck too much in at once, because you can hydro-lock the engine, and that's not good.

So you use the line with the check valve, right?

Without a doubt, cleans the combustion chamber and ports. Smoke is far more than the Seafoam burning. When I did it on my Jeep, the cloud could be viewed from orbit.

Naphtha: Normally refers to a number of flammable liquid mixtures of hydrocarbons, i.e., a component of natural gas condensate or a distillation product from petroleum, coal tar or peat boiling in a certain range and containing certain hydrocarbons. It is a broad term covering among the lightest and most volatile fractions of the liquid hydrocarbons in petroleum. Naphtha is a colorless to reddish-brown volatile aromatic liquid, very similar to gasoline.

Pale Oil: A distillate lubricating oil, straw or pale yellow in color, either a finished oil or to be further refined.

If anyone was wondering what's in Seafoam...

So Sea Foam is some transcendent form of oil and gas? The can does say 100% petroleum.

The first time I used it I thought the engine was on fire! I did, however, think the whole thing ran a bit more smoothly afterwards.

As for pour location, have a look at this: HOW TO use seafoam properly - YouTube

Okay, so disconnect the vacuum hose right before the check valve, take funnel and slowly pour in Seafoam. During this evolution the car just idles, no throttle right?

Marvel mystery oil can also be used in fuel system and crankcase and intake system.Seafoam works great also but be prepared for some or lots of smoke out the exhaust.

heres when i seafoamed my g20t, my neighbors were thrilled im sure lol - http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v363/xadioriderx/Seafoam/?action=view&current=WAYSmoky.mp4
i did a big write-up on a g20 board about each way to use seafoam, but i just checked and its only viewable by sponsors.

as mentioned, you can put some in your tank. you can put some in your oil. and you can let your brake booster line slowly sip it out of a bowl: Unhook and Bowl - YouTube

whether you drive it at all with it in your oil is debatable and depends how much you put in. typically you just let it idle for 15-20 min.

let it idle a bit after sucking it up through the booster, then take it for a nice drive!
