How to change antifreeze/coolant

Hey,

My wife and i have been running around all weekend for the past two weeks and fathers day we have no plans, so I told her we aint goin anywhere. She agreed. I am spending the whole day prepping my car for the track. My first one doesn't start till July 11 at limerock with metroPCA. Anyway, I was thinking about changing the coolant since I will flush the brake fluid with some ATE gold. How do I flush the coolant. More importantly, how do I get rid of the old coolant. I thought there might be something in the old 944 garage site, but its not up yet. I know about the bleed nut on top of the intake for when i fill it up.

There is a drain at the bottom of radiator on driver side for my 1986 951. It is plastic so do not get too energetic with it. There are also two drains on the passenger side of the engine block. I opened them but not much came out so I would not go through that exercise again. If you open reservoir cap, it drains faster. You can refill with tap water and redrain for a flush with the heater on.

Some people use commercial flush products. I had a bad experience once - freeze plug and heater core on an old Ford - so I don't flush with anything but water. My oldest Mercedes is 22 years old and there has never been a problem with cooling system on it. I don't flush it with anything but water.

Our city has a pickup point for antifreeze so I take it there.
