Is a 12 mm banjo bolt really 12 mm? :-)
Hi everyone,
Forgive me for asking but, is an M10 X 1.0 12 mm banjo bolt (for the steering rack) measure 12 mm from beneath the head to the end? I can get these much cheaper at the local farm equipment store but they are not sure of the length. Why don't I just measure the ones I got? Err, they're still in place and it's bloody cold on the garage floor. Thanks. ![]() |

I think they are longer than 12mm. 12mm is only about 1/2 inch. maybe the 12mm refers to the distance from the head to the start of the threads or the oil passage.

I take that back, most of the banjo bolts seem to list the full length. Can you measure the rack fitting to see if this makes sense?

I measured my old one. It was an m10x25 - 25mm is measured from underside of head.

The 12mm refers to the Thread Length portion. When it comes to Fastener measurement (stud, bolt and screw) unless you got the Specification it was built to, the numbers could be iffy. Here is CV bolt that is call 47mm bolt by the Supplier Lobro/PP. Nothing on it measured 47mm; ![]()
