New old stock good?
What do you guys feel/think about NOS for hoses? Like fuel rail hoses?
found NOS fuel rail with hoses from 1990. Are they getting to be as brittle as the ones in my car currently or are they as good as new still? Will they age more rapidly than new ones from today? Thanks

NOS is OLD Rubber Hose. You don't know when the hose was made up and sure don't know how long it just sat in a warehouse. Like anything rubber it does age and you take a risk buying a used or old NOS on ebay. Our Host sells a new one.

it's genuine Porsche and the date is 30-04-90, so 23 years old...but never used...
And it's for the 16 valve fuel rail. the two that connect to the same fuel pressure dampener/regulator at the front of the engine. those hoses are connected to the rail but without being screwed on or clamped on, but are held in place by "barbs" on the connector... and it looks like only one of them is sold separately...

Although the rubber won't be as bad as that in your engine bay, because it hasn't been subjected to heat cycles and road/car chemicals, I would not trust it with carrying high pressure fuel.

23 years old is pretty old to just sit around... I bought a new one(s) from Porsche for around $80 and it was worth the piece of mind at least. Shiny new zinc fittings too...

Any rubber item that's under pressure, i.e., tires, hoses (air, fuel, oil) that are really old should never be trusted. Put your money on a winning horse and buy new.

Thanks guys. Wish I could just easily buy a new one of these, but only one seems to sell separately and the other comes with the rail and the rail is 600+.
but appreciate the feedback. thanks ![]()

I'd see if a local hydraulic shop could fabricate a new hose for you. It's what they do.
