Best timing belt/BS belt/rollers/water pump kit?

I know the question was asked before, but I can't find the thread. I'm digging into an '86 944 with unknown history, so I'm changing EVERYTHING. Does anyone sell everything in a kit?

I think I may try this kit when mine are due. 1986 Porsche 944 Base L4 2.5L > Engine > Timing > ES#2574802 ECS Ultimate Timing Belt Kit With Water Pump - 94410515704KT4

You can always piece everything together here at Pelican, just not sure of the price difference.

The second kit is actually less expensive too.. hmm. Normally 944online is more expensive on parts than other places, I wonder if it's cheaper for everything at PP.

The 944online kit (that was posted) has a rebuilt pump vs ECS's new pump. No idea where the 944online parts came from, but from ECS, "Our kits are assembled with quality rollers and tensioners from Ruville, and INA. Balance shaft belts are constructed by Gates, and the timing belts are by Continental. All water pumps are brand new units from LASO, sealed with quality gaskets from Victor Reinz."

So INA is a good company? I hear not so good things about the "INA Lifters"

I believe INA is the only company that makes the rollers currently.
Also Ian at 944 online will not sell anything that isnt quality.

Zims will sell you the best-quality rebuilt WP and the same belt kit for half that price. You don't need Porsche coolant.

Also check out www.only944.com. They don't have a kit for all these things but it's cheaper to get they separately. Comes out to about $430

Zim's Autotechnik Cam/Balance Shaft Belt & Roller Kit, 944 -86 late
The question is, how can one tell if you have the late style WP or not? My records show a WP bought for like $395 so I'd assume it's a new unit?

The "late" water pump kit has a 46mm cam belt idler roller.

Early cars with WPs not upgraded had a 32mm cam belt idler roller.

OR---if your WP has the silver belt guard it is normally the "upgraded" late pump (either rebuilt or brand new-usually LASO, hopefully not a cheap Asian) with the 46mm idler roller.

FYI Porsche TSB says if your current 46mm roller "feels" a little gritty or noisy it is probably good. Just a "feature" of the 46mm roller.

That sounds like a great feature! If my roller is quiet(doesn't have that feature), can I add it? Does Porsche sell that Feature by its self, or do I have to buy a new roller? I will have to look into that.
