New stereo installed in my 944

After plenty of searching around the forum I finally decided what to do about the 28 year old stereo. To start off...I wanted bass but wanted the sub/amp to be hidden. I also wanted to remove as little pieces as possible to replace the rear speakers. I have successfully accomplished both on a relatively low budget. I started off by building a box to house the 10' sub out of 3/4' MDF. This box will fit in the spare tire well once the bracket is cut off. The dimensions of the pieces I used are as follows: 11.5x20(2), 7.5x10(2), 7.5x20(2)

I mounted the amp in the driver's side cubby hold next to the sub using velcro and zip ties. I needed roughly 14 feet of 8 gauge wire to reach from the battery to the amp while also having it hidden.
Now that I had the sub and amp installed I wanted something to cover them but I was worried the stock carpet would rub the sub and cause poor sound quality so here is what I came up with...keep in mind I did this for a very low sum of money.

I just found a piece of cardboard I had around the house and traced around the carpet then cut it out and glued black stretchy fabric to it that I purchased at walmart for $8.

It's not quite a professional job but it does keep a stock look. I was able to replace the rear speaker without touching the window or even the trim around the window. The rubber trim going around the rear windows did not want to budge for me and I was only damaging the vinyl by trying. If you use a long and very very skinny phillips screwdriver, you can remove the 4 screws to the rear speaker simply by going straight through the little holes on the panel over the speaker. Once I figured this out, the job was 100% easier and took about 15 minutes per speaker. Seriously, don't even touch the window trim and risk ripping your vinyl.
I purchased 4x6 Alpine SPS-406. These do not quite fit in the front doors with the stock speaker covers. Rather than purchasing aftermarket covers, I modified the stock speaker covers using a box cutter and a file.

Nice dude! My PO at some point replaced the speakers front and I think rear also. Not sure with what but they fit and have a stock look. Sounds pretty good but is lacking a strong bass, I'm missing out on the bass drum and the bass guitar how difficult to install just a subwoofer? My computer sound system is stronger at the moment xD

Nice low-budget tricks! I especially like the front speaker cover solution, nice!

I'm going with Infinity Kappas in the doors and rear seat area, and then an Infinity self powered 10" basslink sub for some umph. I think i'm going to have to do something creative like you did with the speaker covers to get everything stock looking, and I think the Basslink is going in one of the side storage pockets in the rear so I can keep my spare tire.
