patiently waiting

No questions, just a comment...
I've posted in another thread regarding the surprise I got when the timing belt cover was removed. Parts came in today and my mechanic tells me I should have the car tomorrow (Tuesday), provided no other issues pop up. Timing, balance and aux belts, all rollers, water pump (updated version) and thermostat were ordered. In addition, three vacuum leaks were found which, hopefully, will cure my hard starting when cold issue I've posted in an additional thread. If all goes well, I will only need to repair the following to make it @100% operational:

Repair driver's side high beam wire (circuit hot beyond fuse #3) but not at the light connector);
Clean contacts on the lamp assembly under the hood (lamp works intermittently);
Clean fuse panel cooling fan relay contacts (low fan speed inoperative bu both fans turn on when needed).

Other discrepancies:

Driver side seat upholstery repair (once I find a local source);
Cracked dash (not going to bother)
Front clip could use a bit of sanding and respray.

I think that covers everything the car needs. Although I'm not participating with the belt/pump install, I have performed the majority of repairs, tweaks, and maintenance myself, probably saved a few thousand in labor. Everyone one here has been great and the PP website/store is an incredible resource!
I'll post results once she's traveled a few miles and back home, safe and sound.

They sell those hard plastic dash covers, and I don't think they're that expensive. I have one in my car, and I never even noticed it for a while, that's how good they match. Hope nothing else pops up in the shop!

Thanks for the cover suggestion. Where did you purchase it and how thick is the material? How would I smooth over the existing dash cracks as they lift a tiny bit at each edge?

BTW: (bennkishh) I see you live in central Jersey; how did you fare with the storms? My dad lives in Wantage and he had a tree kiss his house and lost power for almost a week. I'm currently procuring a generator and plan on delivering it to him in a couple of weeks.

Regarding my 84', I got the call late this afternoon; she's all back together! I'll pick her up tomorrow after work and report back. I also had my buddy replace the trans oil with Redline MT-90 so I hope to feel smoother shifts, especially in this colder weather we're getting here lately.

The plastic dash covers are not to bad for what they are. Your high beam light wire is most likely cut through where the harness bends right before the light housing. I had the same problem and repaired mine with butt connectors and a crimper.

The ABS cover looks pretty good and fools the layman.

I think you may be right on with the high beam wiring. There is a small section of cable insulation missing; a great place to start.

Where can one find the plastic dash covers?
