Finally got my MB Quarts components in!
I finally installed my 5 1/4" MB Components into the front.
They actually fit really nice. I could not use the MB quarts cover for the 5 1/4" but I had a 6 1/2" grill that fits perfectly to cover the rectangular opening the speakers fit into. They can be mounted with a 1/4 inch spacer on top of the cars door panel (included with the speaker). The magnet fits right against the window rail. The speaker sits about 1/4-1/2" above the panel and the grill covers it perfectly. The mounting depth it requires is about ~2 1/4" the 4x6 have a stock depth of about 1 5/8. Asides looking great. The speakers are incredible. I am running about 100 watts RMS through them . They sound great. Its taken about 2 years to find the setup that works. I tried an Alpine/ Pioneer combination that worked well. But the 4" speaker could not take it. Overall the speakers reproduce the highs incredibly well.

Sorry it took so long for pics....Canada Day long weekend....
I originally had an Alpine Tweeter from a 6 1/2 component that I had been using. That is on the panel when these pics were taken. I have the MB quart 5 1/4 in place and placed the grill from the Alpine 6 1/2 over it. The speaker does not touch the side of the car at all. WHen you put the grill over it, the metal part does touch, but not enough to bend it. I I were to completely cut the panel on the door it would fit flush and the grill would not touch the side at all. The way I mounted the speaker it allows me the opportunity to throw in a 4x6 back in an replace the original factory cover. There are no screw holes on the door panel that will not be covered by the original factory cover. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Looks great. Now if were to get the speaker kit would the MB Quarts would the 5-1/4" grills cover the factory hole? I am sure that comes with some kind of crossover. Where did you mount it?
Thanks Thom |

Unfortunately the 5 1/4" MB quartz grills do not cover the 4x6 opening. So that is a major downside. I know radio shack makes a replacement 4x6 cover....but would they have a 6 1/2 " cover??
The crossover is HUGE....(take a look at one of the pics of the box).....I managed to strap it inside the door.... Everyone seems to be creating these huge crossovers?!!!! The crossover I had from the alpine system was about 1"x3" while the MB quartz crossover was about 4"x6"...but it still managed to fit just inside the door. It is incased in a solid plastic case so I am not worried about moisture getting at it.
