DME Computer Question

Will a DME Computer out of an older year of 944 work in a 85.5?

cduke 06-18-2002 06:58 AM

I don't think so: Among other things the old computers are not chipable and the idle is controled by the computer instead of the idle control valve as newer cars are. The newer computer is also chipable. Speedo sensers are different etc. etc. etc.

Best of luck,
CD

Thanks for the info, I didn't think it would be the same.

Neet. What sort of changes have to be made? Are all of the signals to the instrument cluster the same?

This is interesting, cuz I can buy an old computer cheaper then I can get the right one for my car.
Will the older style plug right in or is that part of the mod.

what about the DME upgrade for an early year 944, The one that is supposed to fix the shutter also, that can be chipped right?

yeah, it was your site that i saw the DME upgrade, i might eventualy chip my car. But, I was just thinking, it says after dropping to 600RPM, it goes back up to 950RPM, mine idles at 600RPM. where is it supposed to idle?
