The gears almost always strip. As far as I now, there are replacement gears, and the replacement is fairly simple. My entire speedo/odo gage is shot.

How do I remove this do I need to take the whole dash out?

You can remove just the gauge cluster, then the speedo from it (some have had to remove the steering wheel but if you're careful that's not really needed)

Your 924 & the early 944s will have the same gauges cluster so maybe you could use Clark's Garage Home Page as a guide (enter Garage Shop Manual).Scroll down to Gauges -Pre -1985.5 gauges removal.GL:)
