944 Auto transmission
I asked this question two times on this board and nobody was able to answer. I thought it should be a very simple question with a very straight forward answer.
The question was: Is it yes or no possible to change the Automatic transmission on a Porsche 944 1986 WITHOUT changing or taking apart the rear transaxle ? I want to change my auto transmission but I don't want to go through the pain of changing the transaxle, it make things much more complicated.

The rear trans-axle in both auto or manual is built as one unit. To remove one is to remove both. The transmission is not attached to the rear of the engine, it is in the rear of the car at the end of the torque tube. Use a hydraulic jack on wheels, it is heavy and very unstable if you don't strap or have help to lower it to the ground.
