Need tire help - buying them in a couple of hours!
Sorry for this being posted on Rennlist AND Pelican, but I need lots o' opinions.....
Ok - here is the situation.... My front tires are new. BF Goodrich Touring T/A's. I now have one bald rear tire and one with about 75% tread. The rear are BF Goodrich VR Comp T/A's. Here are my choices... 1. Replace the bald tire with a Firestone with 80% tread that has the same speed rating as the Comp T/A. Leaving me with lower rated tires up front and odd, same rated tires in the back. The one Firestone is $42. 2. Replace the bald one with the exact same tire (BF Goodrich Comp T/A) for the price of $161 - still having lower speed rated tires in front vs the back. 3. Replace both back tires with either Pirelli or Cooper (Canadian company). The Pirelli's cost $250 a pair and the Coopers are $180 a pair. Both these tires are speed rated the same as the ones I have on the front. Is it a bad thing to have different speed ratings on the back and front tires?? Should I try and match up the back ones with a different brand name with the same rating as the front? I will be buying something before the end of the day, so any help would be super-appreciated!! 944S Boyeee |

get the same in the rear as you have in the front.....I don't care much for the touring T/A's...
but I would get the same tire all the way around..... You would be surprised how much of a difference having different tires can make ..............

ae is right, new tires all-around if you can swing it. look at the bridgestone re730's...i think that's the model....very good traction, wear & price is reasonable.
