Paint idea...lemme know what you think

My car's paint was pretty neglected by the PO, so it's going to need a respray in the not-too-distant future. I'm not super happy with the Maraschino Red Metallic my porsche currently is, so was thinking of changing to a very dark metallic green (like a forest green), or a deep metallic blue. I know the purists here are going to want me lynched for not sticking with the factory color, or even a porsche paint, but try to see past that and give me an opinion on the 2 color choices I'm debating between, please

Also, current interior is linen (and carpets are in dire need of being replaced and burned); and I'm thinking about changing over to black interior. So, the color combo would be green exterior/black interior, or blue exterior/black interior. Thoughts, please.

I'm a pretty big fan of the Maraschino Red (see pic stolen from the web below). That being said, forest green would be a lovely alternate color. Consider making the interior black/linen, would look very nice.

I was thinking about leaving the console area linen for a bit of a contrast with the black...

And that stolen pic is a little prettier than my car currently is. Really, it's not THAT bad after the waxing/polishing I've done to it, but there's a huge oxidized strip on the hood and smaller one on the roof that make the whole car look bad to me. Recently ordered some touch up paint to see if I can fix that, and maybe allow me to be happier with the car for the time being until I get around to painting the whole thing.

^ I like the look of those wheels! (I have beat up PD's I'm trying to decide how to refinish.) Can you pass along some details on yours?

Sure, they were not very difficult, really. Mine were beat to hell and looked like crap, so took the dremel to them to get the bigger scuffs out and polish them down a bit. Then just picked up some wheel paint from Auto Zone (I think the color was charcoal...don't remember for sure, but I can check the can when I get home), did 3 coats of color. Center pieces I buffed out, fixed the scratches, then picked up red, gold and black paint markers from the craft section in Walmart and painted them, waited till dry and applied a couple coats of clearcoat to give them a bit of shine.

Oh, and the center pieces I also painted the same color as the wheel first, but taped off the porsche emblem so it was bare metal I was painting with the markers instead of trying to go over existing coats of paint.

You know Porsche has a cool forest green color that was more common on 951's.. Nile Green? It's basically the only shade of Green in the world I kinda like

I have seen that color, and it's nice. But I want something very, very dark green, or super deep blue. And not that you can tell, but my current window tint is a purple-ish color (I assume to kinda match the paint), and I'm going to swap that out for as black as Arizona legally allows.

Only problem with a color change is that to do it properly, you need to do the door jams, under hood and engine compartment, under the window seals, under the hatch, etc....far easier to stick with the current color and just paint the exterior surfaces.

It's going to look real funny when you open the hood on a green or blue car and see a Maraschino Red engine compartemnt.

Yeah, I'm aware of all the extra work required of changing colors. I think it'll be worth it, though, to get the car a color I truly enjoy.

How about zyclam red pearl effect ,it was a one year only color for the S2 .
Pretty close to maraschino so i don't think the engine bay si a must if you change to zyclam.

The problem with changing color will be, the cost. Since there will be lot more prep then staying with the same color,in order to do a decent job the car will have to be strip completly in & out & even then you are still stuck with a different color engine bay unless you remove the motor.Just take a step back & imagine having a nice forest green 944 & then someone ask you to see the engine bay which will still be Marachino Red OOPS!!.If I were you I'll choose a paint close to the original one maybe a little brigther with metallic in it.The interior you can always play around with different combo, nothing to it. Some idea. This S2 look like Marachino Red but it's not.
My buddy 996 very nice metallic paint.A friend of mine 968Let's call this one deep or fire red, very beautiful color.

I like the idea of at least sticking with a good red color. The 944 is painted everywhere and I am still surprised finding old guards red when I least expected it, lol

That is nice, and the pearl effect would not really show in the engine compartment, see if you can get a color swatch and match it for closeness to your existing color.

If you decide to go Zyclam-Red Pearl Effect the paint code is LZ3T.
