Parts car-order of disassembly

From those who have done it, I am getting ready to strip a car I bought to bare tub. Particularly with the mechanical components, does anyone think any particular order of disassembly make the job any easier? Better to pull the transaxle and work my way toward the engine? Or does it really not matter?

The parts car, an S2 which was wrecked in the front, has only 80K miles on it. Came with limited slip, sport shocks and a linen interior. I'm thinking I'll transplant the drivetrain, suspension and interior into my black S2 that dropped a valve.

Thanks!

I think transaxle/engine would be the best place to start. If you plan to keep the engine/transaxle, then I'd start with the interior if it's in good shape. Everyone is always looking for stuff to restore their worn out 25+ year old interiors.

When I parted out Datsun ZXs, I saved the rolling stock for last because the car becomes a paper weight as soon as no wheels are on it.

I would carefully start with the interior bits and other small parts on the exterior and box them up so they are easily repositioned to make more room in the garage.

If you are selling pieces, make a long list of what you have, a reasonable price for each item, and maybe even pictures of each item, so when somene looks at your add, there is no guesswork about price or condition. This will save alot of emails back and forth.

It depends a lot one what equipment you have.

A method I've seen done before is to remove all the bolt on parts like doors, hatch seats etc and then lift the body off of the running gear. Then you can put the shell on a cart and disassemble the transaxle and engine with lots of space to work around. Of course you need a way to lift the body off and then move it around afterwards.

Good advice all, particularly keeping it a roller as long as possible. I especially didn't know if it was easier to pull the transaxle first, and work my way forward, or vice versa. Anyway, the transaxle is out now, and much of the interior. I hadn't thought of the sawzall, but I guess I had kinda hoped that someone might want the shell, maybe a racer?
