Most of the name brands of antifreeze are phosphate and silicate free, just read the back of the container. The "store brands" tend to not be. Napa brand, autozone's brand and walmarts super tech aren't. Prestone and Peak are.

Been using Prestone mixe 50/50 for twenty nine years in both the 944 & 968 with no issues.Name of the game dump it every two years or so & replace with new one.

I would stick with the manufacturers recommendation regarding phosphate and silicate free - but realistically, it probably doesn't really matter what you use - like Ernie944 said, it is more about making sure you stick to the maintenance interval.

The prestone 50/50 is is phosphate and silicate free, I just always wondered about the 50 percent water. Are they really using a form of distilled water or are they pulling it from whatever spring is closest?

I'm 99% sure it's distiller. I'm also using that Green Prestone I found in the garage
