What is this and how to repair?

1986 Porsche 944 Turbo

Yesterday my 944 died while pulling into the drive way. When I tried to restart it would backfire and made some pretty bad noises. After looking over the basics I found the problem. Please see the arrow in the picture. The tube (insert correct part) was still connected to the rubber hose, but it wasn't on the intake anymore. I pushed it back in and the car runs fine, but I know it will just pop out again. The tube looks like it had some kind of glue on the end and it's just worn. What is the best way to fix this? Should I use JB Weld and tap it back in or is there something special I should use. Please note that I would like to fix it the correct way before resulting in a make shift fix for the time being.
Thank you

proper way would probably be to get someone to weld it back on....if there's still enough material to weld back on

you could also just buy a replacement 951 intake manifold. they're not that expensive.

take a pic of your bits and pieces.

If it just slides in I would try jb weld - make sure you have 360 deg coverage.

There's a good intake for sale on the forum right now. Why not try out the JB weld first.

that hose barb was simply epoxied in, IIRC. mine came out when i did the cylinder head. clean it up, JB weld it. done.

Is the 951 intake magnesium? Find out before you weld if you go that route.
No one likes to say JB Weld, but it might be just the thing for this. I bonded a vacuum fitting back on to my intake manifold (magnesium) a long time ago and it's perfect. My fitting had some witness lines of a factory bonding agent. How do you suppose your fitting was attached by the factory?

Right, it isn't subjected to any mechanical stress really.

+1 on the epoxy fix. Had to do it on mine.

Original used some type of epoxy as well.

Clean it up well and glue it back and you'll be fine.

JBWeld is fine, the ISV fitting on mine pulled out with the hose, I pulled the other one out with channel locks. JBWelded both and pressure tested to 20psi.

Thank you for the replies. I'm going to clean the tube by removing the old epoxy and JB Weld it on tight.

The 951 intake is not magnesium. The very rare 944 Turbo Cup cars had magnesium intakes (and magnesium phone dials).

a light sanding of the fitting with scotch-brite won't hurt either. give it some texture for the JB-weld to stick to.
