timing belt

this guy buy me has a 88 944 na and he said he would sell me but he said the timing belt was broke, is that something serious or should i buy it if i can get it for next to nothin.

LOL!!! Yes it's very serious! You need to do a head job and change some bent valves. If you can do it yourself it will cost you around under $1,000 in parts with some machine work needed on the head. This is the best time to pick it up. I paid on my first 944 around $6,500 and I got my 88 944 for only $1500 with oil mixing with coolant in the engine. He said it needed a head gasket job but when I look in to it, it was just the oil cooler seal went out! LOL!!
