Timing Belt slipped?

I recently did my first timing belt job on a 1984 944, but I think it went wrong. The problem is that after I tensioned the belts and turned the engine by hand, the camshaft is off by half a revolution. The engine was at top dead center and the camshaft was aligned at its TDC mark when I tensioned the belts. Now, its got me worried that I might have bent some valves.

It seems that I might of not seated the belt correctly on the crankshaft and it slipped. Does anyone have any ideas of what i should do? Can i take the camshaft off and align the marks again?

keep in mind that the crankshaft will turn 2 times to 1 of the camshaft. There for if you set the belt with all on TDC and rotate the crank 1 time around then the cam will be 180deg. off is this what happend?
