944 Engine Swap
The engine on my late 1985 seized and I'm looking at a used 2.5L n/a from a 1988 944. I believe the motor is basically the same but I'm trying to find out if I can swap 1 for 1 or do I need to replace anything else like the DME?
Anyone have any idea? |

You will need to swap the DME if you plan on using the wiring harness from the 88 motor.

They're totally interchangeable. Like the guy above posted, the wiring is different, but just unplug everything from the engine before pulling it, and plug your old harness into the new engine after you install it. While they're both out, check all the sensors to make sure they're all the same. If they are, just use the ones from your old engine.
