New exhaust tip

I'm looking to get a new exhaust tip because my old one was pretty nasty. I had to grind off the piece that was welded to tail pipe that the tip was on as well. I was going to order a new one from Pelican but I see it's just the tip only so my question is what else do I need to order? Is the other part the exhaust pipe sleeve? I'm not sure because there isn't a pic for that item.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Maybe you need to go by NAPA, etc. and see what they have in your size.

Here some pics, the part in question is the metal sleeve. Is this part stock? if so what is it called? If not can I just put the tip on my tail pipe as it is currently? I was gonna go with one of those bolt on tips from autozone or murrays but the flare at the end of my tailpipe permits me from fitting anything on there and I don't want to chop it off.

P.S. I know I have mad photoshop skills! lol.

Can't see any further use for the flare at the end. A hack saw or cut-offs should do the job. Then the auto parts guys. If you like the oval look, you can always squash a round chrome adaptor in a vice--with a rag around it, of course.

i put a use stock muffler/cat back on my car, the chrome tip was in REALLY bad shape on the replacement.

i got a new chrome 'sleeve' off ebay 30-40 bucks? the guy had a ton of them, he was in FL someplace. i dremmel'd carefully the old chrome sleeve off by cutting it down the center long ways, peeled it off, then filed the heck out of the muffler with a file, used lots of wd40, a hammer and a rag to protect the chrome, and was able to slide the new chrome tip over the stock muffler tip, looks like new.

But your tip doesnt look stock so any of the above likely doesnt apply....

Time to resurrect this thread. My stock exhaust tip is totaled as well, and I'm gonna peel it off & replace with another factory tip. Anyone have suggestions on how to keep the new tip attached without welding?

Wont be necessary. The new tip will be on so tight it won't move. It's going to take a good amount of cleaning, filing, and persuasion w a rubber mallet to get the new one on.

So I just finished this job. Wish I thoughtto do it earlier because it was so easy and made a big difference. Literally took all of 5mins to peel the old one off and hit the new (old) one into place with a large rubber mallet.
