car audio

Can y'all post some pics and specs of your car stereo installs? I am starting to shop and need some reference.

Thanks,

Rick

So is it that no one has a nice car audio system; or is it that no one has any pics or specs?...bump

lol - i'll put mine up there shortly. i am going back through it right now, making some changes to the outboard gear, and possibly changing out the sub amp.

the biggest improvement you can make to any system is to treat the doors and interior surfaces with dynamat extreme and dynapad. once you decrease the noise in the car, any system will sound better and be able to work to its optimum. it isn't sexy, but it works.

Here's my kenwood dnx6160 double din. I love it. It has GPS, plays dvd, and has amazing sound quality.

I think all he had to do was remove the tray? This looks like what I have installed: Sony Car Stereo Receiver | Front Auxiliary Receiver | CDX-GT270MP | Sony | Sony Style USA

Only difference I can tell is on my faceplate the buttons glow blue instead of red and the dial is polished silver.

My radio barely works and all I do is play iPhone music anyways. I have aftermarket speakers in the doors, not sure what they are. You can't really tell because of the original insulation

I had to cut the plastic/metal center piece that separates the single din from the storage cubby hole thing. Then I had to cut out some of the rubber/carpet and it kind of just sits in there.

lol - yeah - had to do it though. i'm an audio engineer. can't have some tinny cheesy stereo in any of my cars. i've ripped apart the SL550 system as well as the Denali system (both were Bose) and redone both of those, as well as lining the cars with dynamat extreme too.

just in case anybody was wondering, i think i'm in for a little over $4k on this system, with me doing all of the installation work.

I ordered this Sony yesterday to replace my stock unit.
Sony DSX-S210X Digital media receiver at Crutchfield.com
I'll post a pic once it's installed next week.

Just so you youngsters can laugh at me! I have the original cassette radio but with a hidden Bluetooth adapter that streams music and calls from my phone. Installed without cutting or splicing a wire.

the deck fit right in. it came with the trim piece.

gaw - lol - i think my system cost a lot more than many of the cars here. i definitely am in the minority when you stop to think about what i have spent on this car. but, it does things that no other does too, so the exclusivity is rather cool. you'll have to see it some time.

This is the double-din 6.25" unit, correct? I was looking at the 7" units but was worried that the tilting face might have a conflict with the shifter. You'rs looks like you don't have a tilt face.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

My car stereo sounds great.
Headunit: Kenwood KIV BT-900
Speakers: Alpine Type S 4x6's in the stock door location
Sub: Hidden KLA box with a 8" JBL sub. The sub makes deep quality bass. It isn't booming like 2 12's, but sounds really good. I have the bass cut off at the front speakers 150 hz and below. It sounds great.

Box fits great. To fit my subwoofer in the box I had to have a MDF ring made as the Sub was just a little too deep. I would highly recommend this sub due to the performance it provides. My amp is only 200ish watts RMS and it is plenty loud for me. I have it turned down quite a bit as it can overpower the front speakers.
