I need help covering up some holes
Hi everybody. I need some ideas in covering up 4 x 1/4" diameter or less holes that I have remaining after my licence plate replacement job I did today. You see, the original owner had one of those rectangular red with black trim lighted "PORSCHE" displays in the back of the car where the license plate used to be. They had to drill a couple of holes to make this happen as well as drill a couple of holes to install the license plate between the bumpers. That eyesore was the only thing that I didn't like about my car as it looked too gawdy and way too redundant to remind people that this car is a Porsche.
So, today, I removed that ugly beast and placed my license plate back to where it should be but now I got me 4 holes that I need to cover up in some way, shape or form. I am up for almost anything, including bumber stickers/decals, plugs, red tape, a novelty license plate (for the bottom two holes).........ANYTHING. You got any ideas? thks in advance, -timmer ![]() ![]()

First your license plate is about 1" too low.
Now for the holes: I would find a real hardware store and get a couple of 1/4-20 x 1" black oxide finish button head Allen socket screws/bolts. Get a couple of nylock nuts too. Look through their rubber washer drawers and find a couple the are just a hair larger on the OD than the head of the fastener. Now put the rubber washer on the fastener, the fastener through the hole and secure with the nylock nut on the inside. If you want more water proofing get 1 1/4" long bolts, two more rubber washers and a couple of flat steel washers. Put rubber washers on the inside then the steel washers then the nylock nuts. I have the same holes from a cheap after market filler. I'm going to fix mine the hard way. I was rear ended and the whole back center piece is going to be replaced. By the way the stock license plate support frame has two large rubber spacers holding it off of the back panel about 1/2". Also provides water proofing.

Thks for the ideas. I never thought about water-proofing. I was thinking also about some Porsche emblem/logo that I can do to cover a hole and maybe a waterproof plus.
With regards to the license plate being 1" too low.....I know all about that. The plate holder is not stock, of course, and it lites up so I guess that's why it looks too low (wires, etc.).........or is it because my support frame is on upside down....whatever the case may be, I will be working on getting the two plate lights that is standard with the car to be re-wired as they were disconnected that when they installed the filler. Once I get that electrical oddysey back to normal, I'll get rid of the plate holder and get something less bulky. -timmer

Could get some badges.
Not only were my stock plate lights disconnected but were painted over too. The ones in the "new" back sheet metal are in good shape.

another idea, not really covering up the holes, but this would probably look good. take your light lens and paint it the same red as your car is and paint the porsche lettering red too. then remove the porsche sticker under the license plate. finally reinstall the light lens where it was and put your license plate back down where it was. this way the holes would be covered up, and your lens will look a lot nice, kinda like how the 968s have porsche engraved the color of the car between the taillights. good luck.

I have the same dilemma except the clown that installed the aftermarket lens drilled a set of holes then drilled another set in the correct position (previous owner
![]() I am thinking about finding a old-timer that knows the art of lead body filling. Plan B is to buy a 2-part epoxy putty from POR-15 (www.por15.com) and fill in the holes. Smooth them over with bondo (Bondo is good if it is done right!) and have a shop spray it with a matched paint. Plan C is the badges. Not a bad idea.

I was hoping that someone would give me an offer for that. Price? It's a good question. I trust everyone on this board, including you, so you name the price. In the meantime, I'll poke around and see what these things go for.

![]() Now, mind you, my Photoshop skills aren't the best so work with me here. Is this what you are both suggesting? -timmer

i'm looking for a pic, but cant seem to find one. i have some pics of it on black cars, but i cant find any on red. that is somewhat close, but it will look better in real life because you would paint the edges of the lens, so it would blend with the rear end better, and in real life the porsche wouldnt stick out that much. i'll keep lookin for a pic.
