Usually the entire camshaft & housing---sometimes with the lifters/cam followers ---complete is cheaper to buy on ebay used or LARTS.

WHY did it happen?
Usually the cam bolt comes loose...

I cannot seem to focus on the first picture... and its too early in the day

Crap! Im sorry i meant CRANKSHAFT. In the first picture picture its showing where the key slot is has shaved About a 1/2 inch of martial off around the inside of the hole. Starting from the right side of the key slot. I dont think it is made like that???

I doubt Porsche made it like that...

I just finished installing the crankshaft seal and "O" ring today on the '87----I do not recall seeing that at all.

Try the Pelican WTB parts----with all the donors, someone must have one.

Is it normal to have to use a puller to get the crank gear off and then have to use it again to get the oil pump drive sleeve off behind the gear?? My new sleeve wont slide on the shaft. And also dose the green oring go on before the drive sleeve?

I did not have to use a gear puller but some do if rusted or corroded parts will not slide off.

How did the key way look on the crankshaft? Any damage?
Was the crankshaft key going to be replaced?

If you have the front crankshaft seal removed----it has to be replaced ---you can grab the oil pump sleeve with a large slip joint pliers on the front lip to pull out.

Good you have a new oil pump sleeve.

Maybe lightly polish the front crankshaft??

Note the sequence of front parts and especially the gear "collar-lip" is on the outside---not against the engine!

Sequence= seal/oil pump sleeve--green "O" ring---washer--shaft key---gear

I have all the seals, rollers, and belts im waiting on the gears now. The sleevd wasn't rusted at all not a spot on it.it was covered in oil because of the leak so that shoukd have helped it slide off. I was able to get it to slide just enough for me to get the puller teeth around the back. It was almost like the shaft had expanded as it got farther to the end of it.
The key is warn some on the end of it not to bad tho. I was wondering if i could just flip it over? The back side looks perfect. Bad idea??

Since you are waiting on the gear, get a new key.
The cam belt gear is too important to use a bad key.
