Crank Girdle Torque and Sealer Question
Just recently I started re-assembling the motor for my 86 944. Following the Haynes manual, I used Loctite 574 and installed the girdle. It took me about 10 minutes or so to torque the nuts to spec. About 5 minutes later I realized that I had not installed the smaller outer bolts (they aren't part of the torque sequence in the manual). So I installed them...a full 15 minutes after I began.
So here's the question: is that Ok? I know that the sealer takes about 10 minutes or so to begin curing. During the initial torque sequence, the amount of sealer oozing out was uniform around the girdle so I know that it was torqued evenly to the block. I saw no change after installing the smaller bolts. I think that it's Ok and I don't need to re-do it but I am looking for an opinion or two. Thanks

You're fine. The 574 acts is an anaerobic sealant. It doesn't cure until there is a lack of oxygen. So time isn't the sole determinant. Until everything was torqued down and the oxygen cut off, the curing didn't start.
