Upgrade early 944 brake calipers

Someone told me a while back, that you can change the early 944's single piston caliper to a dual piston caliper from a Volvo 242 no modification but from dual brake line to single line. Is this true? has anyone done this? Was there any benefit?

Someone over at the 924 board did this, but IMO the "upgrade" is pointless. With proper cleaning and lubrication, and good pad selection, the 944 floating caliper performs excellently.
