Clutch pedal not returning

My clutch pedal is stuck down and has a couple of inches to move. The clutch does work and I plan to replace the master/slave cylinders. Would the clutch fork have anything to do with it or is it only related to hydrolic cylinders?

Does it either stay all the way down or all the way up? When I was bleeding the clutch my first time, I had two problems, the blue hose from reservoir started leaking under the new pressure, and then I was having trouble getting the air out, in the meantime the pedal would hit dead to the floor. Proper bleeding with a Motive finally got it sorted out, along with a new hydraulic fluid hose.

It's a couple inches from the floor. It will move enough to engage/disengage the clutch though. I have replaced the master cylinder about 7 years ago and it has only a couple years of use on it. The slave I think might be original.

Also check to make sure that one hose isn't ballooning

Mine did this for a minute right after I changed out my master/slave cylinder for about the 4th g*ddamn time over the course of owning the car

There is a small adjustable arm at the clutch pedal. It can allow for movement in either direction. I'd take a look at this first.

About a week ago I pressed the clutch pedal in and it returned fully. Then when I went to change gears the pedal didn't make contact with the metal shaft from the master cylinder until the pedal was pressed in half way. Since then I noticed it made contact at different positions over the last week. I had the pedal adjusted so there was about 3/4 of an inch of free movement before it made contact to operate the master cylinder. It feels to me that the hydrolics are not being returned to a fully decompressed state.

I would start by replacing the slave cylinder and while you are in there if there is any wear to the black hose that goes to the slave I would replace that as well. Some will tell you to replace the clutch master along with the slave.

I found brake fluid leaking from the clutch inspection hole. Will this ruin the clutch if it driven?

That would be a leaky clutch slave. I wouldn't drive the car till you replaced the part.

I had very similar problem. Replacing slave didn't solve it. Went ahead and replaced the Master and the hose that goes between the 2. Works like a charm now.

Brake fluid at clutch inspection hole would be a leaky slave.

You don't want brake fluid on the clutch plate. I recommend replacing the slave and the hose and then see how the clutch performs. If it grabs then your' plate has been contaminated with brake fluid.
