Jumping pins: 944 S2 alarm bypass
 

I'm diagnosing my non-starting 944 S2. A friend and I have narrowed it down to either the alarm control unit or DME. Water is slowly dripping on both of them when 1 gal of water is poured directly into the battery box. There must be a little hole or crack that needs filling in/ welding, no obvious rust or holes upon a quick inspection.

I'm set up to test another S2 DME on Monday but I want to see if I can bypass the alarm this weekend and get it started ahead of time. - I had an alarm malfunction in a rainstorm right before the non-starting so I'm pretty sure this is the issue.

This thread on rennlist about bypassing alarms seems like it will work for my car. As I've read clarkes method doesn't apply to the S2.

I strongly suggest you DON'T try that bypass procedure. It works on the earlier cars, but has almost caused car fires on later cars like yours.

I am not sure if a bypass for late (S2 and I think '89 and up) cars has been documented. I don't remember seeing one before.

Refer to wiring Diagram sheet 97-221 1990 944S
Two jumpers are required
At relay G19 add a jumper from pin 4 to pin 5
At the Alarm Control Unit (ACU) add a jumper from pin 1 to pin 3
BTW the battery box drain could be blocked with dirt

Thank you Kfray you were right on both fronts! My battery box drain was clogged. Upon closer inspection I also had a hole in the battery box which has since been repaired. I printed out the diagram you suggested and I was about to do the bypass but I ended up locating a replacement alarm control unit off of another 944 S2. So I ended up swapping that out and the car started up immediately. Thanks for your help though! I have saved all of those diagrams now for future reference.
