POPS 83 wanted to see

Well, I think I'm finally ready enough to show some photos of the disaster. Lol.

There's a bit of explaining to be had for each photo... I also had other things fixed while I have been undergoing this process, such as the nice hole my Dad's wife decided to put through the rear fascia by opening the door to a Ford Expedition while I was backing up....

This fender I got off a guy from RL for $55 but Greyhound apparently mangled it on shipping... it had to be straightened and had some dents...

How should I re-connect this last bracket? Besides this the "new" fender is fully on.

Lastly, there is a gap between the fender and the bumper.. I think the bracket slightly pulls it in (not sure) but it was also suggested to me to loosen the bumper bolts and it can be moved around?

I got this from RL user athens944 and he has been parting out the same car, lots of happy customers. There's pictures of the car and fender before removal, it's an NA with an NA bumper and this doesn't look like an S2 or 951 fender now does it?

Brakes work great... I'm using ATE super blue fluid (still), Mintex brake pads which apparently are semi-metallic but I can't tell for sure, Zimmerman coated rotors. The only thing is at low speeds sometimes I hear a metallic scraping sounds like the pad is dragging on the rotor, goes away when I hit the brake pedal. I'm not sure if something is wrong or the pads are too thick or what. They were almost impossible to get in haha the fronts I had to hammer in the pads it was so tight. .... Stops quickly! lol, have not tested it on a "spirited" drive though... not looking to find more brake pad fade eek.

Also, when I took out the old pads one of the front pads slightly crumbled and broken pieces came off... wtf

You didn't find a 931 nose panel?

my '87 front calipers were a b---h to get on with new rotors and pads. I had to hammer the calipers down too. I suspect with the metal in the pads, you're dealing with more idling (non brake pressure) noise than if you used oem or soft pads. Are your rotors smooth or slotted/drilled?

When I looked at your pics, I thought it showed an exercise of parking at speed.

Body work looks good.

Haha, thanks. So the random metallic pad noise is normal.. lol. POPS I did in fact get a good clean 931 panel with vents! It's in the garage! The body guy did the nose panel without me even asking... fine with me haha. Might as well sell it now I guess.

Maybe no more "spirited" drives? At least you fix that car up after damaging it. haha.

Are you ready to share how you did it?

Looks like it's coming out nice. Just a camber problem and some paint.

Just in, I have found a picture taken of Gaw right before his brakes didn't stop his car (big brother is everywhere!)

HAHA, yeah now! It's been a PITA getting this far lol. And the spirited drive isn't what did it, I was driving border-line maniac and was just fine. Coming home I was driving normally, my friend was car-sick LOL. Passed a bunch of "ricer hondas" and going down a hill brakes just... didn't really stop the car, haha. Hello mr. pole

That sure look like a heck of a way to treat a new paint job, but the progress that you are making now looks good.

Been there, done that. I hit a guardrail instead of a pole. Luckily for me I was only going 5-10mph and all I got was a nice crease in my front passenger fender...

I was doing 35-40 I believe. :/ Along with pole included barbed wire fence, so... it managed to scrape most panels which is why I'm basically re-painting everything..
