Hood pin bracket fabrication
I thought I'd share my solution for mounting hood pins to my 944. Due to some front end damage, the hood latch tends to stick, the hood release cable broke, etc., so I'm going with hood pins , at least for the time being. Since I am also ditching the concealing headlights for DIY fixed lights, I decided to use the bolt holes for the bar that rotates to open and close the lights to attach the hood pins. This would only work if you're committed to losing your concealing lights.
I started with some 3/4"(or so) square tubing and some flat stock. I welded a nut on one end of the tubing to receive the hood pin (el cheapo from FLAPS). I cut the other end at an angle to match the slope of the hood (I arrived at that angle by holding a level over the hood and a piece of flat stock resting on the hood and marking the intersecting line). The other end of the tubing was then welded to the flat stock, which had holes drilled for the existing hardware from the light bar brackets. Since I have access to a welder at work, this seemed the simplest solution for my application. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'll modify the cover plate since it's a little too close to the edge of the hood. Overall I'm pleased so far by how this turned out. It's certainly not the only way to do it and probably not the best, but it works for me!

Those are some quality welds. Now can you do the inner body panels on my TR6?
