Front strut torque setting?
Hey all,
I'm almost done with several repair projects when I decided to replace the rusty nuts (4 on each side), on both front strut towers in the engine compartment, with new stainless ones. The factory manual does not specify torque settings; does anyone know?? I appreciate the help, thanks! Patrick |
Spring strut to body - Hex nut M8 - 23nm or 17ft/lbs.
I put stainless nuts here too, did you use self-locking (nylock) ones? |
I re-plated the washers too as they can look pretty nasty after a while:

Thanks, I just finished replacing them; I'll apply the appropriate torque. As for the wave-style washers, I just used a dremel to remove any rust. They actually weren't in bad shape. In retrospect, I probably should have used the nylon locking type of nut but I didn't, however; a small amount of anti-seize compound was applied to each stud. Sooner or later, I'll have to replace the struts, like everything else. (As anote: the white streak on the red paint is not anti-seize; it's another project to address all the hard to remove spots. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1376769657.jpg
