i will replace the back suspension system with and i want to know what is the maximum O.D of the coil that it could fit .and if anyone knows more it will be more helpful.i all ready search the older posts but i didn't found something useful.
my car is 944 S2 |

Try looking at 944online forum. They have section for track cars, maybe you can get an answer there.

2.5in is a regular size spring for coilovers made for our cars, 2.25in is also available for some coilovers.
I'm not quite understanding your question though. Generally coilover springs are 2.5in as you can get almost any spring rate you want in that size, but it depends on the strut you are using. |

2.25" is a must, 2.5" will only work if you space the lower shock mount out from the trailing arm.. but this is not ideal because you are putting more stress on a already weak spot in the suspension; the lower shock mount.

Yeah, 9FF and I have the rear shocks run inverted to deal with that clearance issue..
