928 wheels on a 924S

I have a set of these 928 wheels, 16x7 and apparently 65mm offset, that I just got powder coated black:

I have a 1987 924S with the original 15x6 phone dials, offset 52.5mm. I plan to run 215/50/R16 tires on the new wheels.

My question is what the best setup is for mounting the 928 wheels on my car. I could get 14mm spacers and extended studs. Easier and cheaper would be 7mm spacers, assuming I wouldn't have to get extended studs--I did notice that somebody else has these wheels on a 924S with 1/4 inch spacers and it cleared everything all right. The 6.5mm spacers here on Pelican Parts say they can be used with stock studs, so if the 928 wheels aren't thicker, it seems that 7mm would be okay.

I'm not racing the car, just using it as a daily driver. Anybody know how it would turn out if I got 7mm spacers all around and used the stock studs?

I have 8 mm spacers in the rear and works fine with stock studs, although I'd say it's pretty close to the limit

On your '86? Sounds good.

What would be the effects of having the offset still 5.5mm more than stock? I've heard a whole lot of mixed opinions on that.

I did just come across somebody on the 924Board with these same 65mm offset wheels on his 924S and 6mm spacers, so I think I'll just go for the 7mm ones and see how it feels. Can always change it later.

Thanks. I really like how they turned out.

I work at a cabinet shop and we send stuff to be powder coated every day, so I got a great deal...$172 for the whole set, and that included some sandblasting to deal with minor scrapes. So including the brand new center caps that came with the wheels, I've got $412 into them.

If all goes well, I may be selling my original phone dials. Although now I'm tempted to keep them around, and put some studded tires on them for the winter...

Oh, haha, update? They went on just fine without spacers and I love how it looks and handles now. Never going back to 15x6's or phone dials, no sir.
