Sun Visor Question

Hi Guys,

Ive been reading from the shadows for awhile, but I finally decided I needed to create an account since I couldnt find an answer to this question. I just brought a 1983 NA 944 w/ black interior and Im currently working on replacing a few pieces.

Im working on getting replacement sun visors (both sides) and Im not sure which years are a match from my car. Ive been looking online, from eBay to a few others sites. Ive been getting a lot of mixed information from sellers.

Can anyone help? Thanks!

Welcome, do you have visors but are bad? or don't have any? I don't know which years fit which but my visors are in bad shape and plan to have them redone soon.

The car came w/ visors, but I took them off to clean and I discovered they probably werent any good. I was trying to take everything a part, clean it, then put it back together. The form or whatever it is on the inside of the visor is really brittle. When I press it between my fingers it just collapses.

Thanks for the reply btw.

One way to know would be check part numbers. Porsche has .pdf catalogs online for their cars. Here's a link to the '82-'85 944 catalog:

http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf/originalparts/usa/944_USA_82_85_KATALOG.pdf

There are right and left visor part numbers, with a suffix for color. It looks like the part numebr stays the same for '82-'88 at least.

You probably need only check the classifieds here. In the event you don't see what you're after, just post a request.

The early 944 (82-85.1) used the same visors as the 924 (77-86).
These were a soft vinyl covered visor with a soft foam center.
As you have found the foam has given up after 30 years.

My son drives an 83 and last year we installed a set of visors out of an 87-944.
Everything fit perfectly, even the clips snap into position and hold well.

If you are looking to replace try upgrading to the late model.
Much better visor and I think you will be happy with the fit and finish.

Yep, what they said. The original sunvisors for your car are the same as the 924 and the early 944. The late 944 visor is different, but much better and fit perfectly.

I will take your suggestion and get the visors off a later model.

And thanks to everyone else as well. Working on this car had been such a blast. Being able to come here and have help is just icing on the cake
