Headlamp replacement

I've got kind of a stupid question but I don't want to order the wrong part. My left headlight is only working when I have my high beams on. I've never had to replace one of these so I'm just wondering is this the right part? The lamp is sealed so you have to replace the whole lamp and not just the bulb? TIA

The upgrade to H4 headlights is a worthwhile investment.

Otherwise just get a replacement sealed beam unit at any autoparts store. They were used on nearly every car for decades. At least 100 million cars were equipped with them.

Speaking of H4 upgrade, what exactly involved in this? Does this mean that the H4 bulbs are those annoying blue-white lights that blind everyone or are there some versions that are normal but brighter? I'm thinking of this upgrade for my 944.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Rennbay offers a nice kit, easy install, and better lighting.

I personally prefer the oem lights. It hasn't gotten any darker since the 80s so they work fine. And i think it's a more natural look for the cars... The Sylvania sealed bulbs/lights are 11 at autozone. And maybe even less other places...

H4 bulbs are pretty standard in the UK, there are many versions now available but generally road-legal ones are pretty standard in terms of colour and wattage. Some makes have 'apparently' made them more efficient in terms of output, but the trade off is price and long-term life (the candle that burns twice as bright, etc..!). The annoying blue-white lights are generally the new technology HID Xenon bulbs, or not road-legal high output ones.

If anything, it's brighter now. Haven't you heard about Global Morning?

My 944 turbo had this exact issue, low beams worked, and only 1 high beam worked. I replaced the bulb but the issue persisted, then I found that the wiring was frayed/split/cracked where the wiring for the headlights bends down by the front frame rail. I had to cut the plastic sheathing back about 12-18 inches and found the broken wires. After crimping a new piece of wiring in place, high beams worked again.

This was happening with my 84. But it was either my high been worked, or reg headlight worked, on both sides. It was the fuses that we're getting loose. Just cleaned up the fuse panel, and made the metal tabs on the fuse panel a little tighter. Not a problem since.

I replaced my old bulbs with new sylvania OEM style. Cheep and a huge difference. I suggest you change out both lamps and see if you are happy with the results.

I replaced both lights today with the OEM sylvania h6024. Only $20 at advance auto parts. I want to do the h4 upgrade in the future but I'm short on cash at the moment so I need to save for more dire repairs.

I inspected my front brakes as well and found that one pad is worn down nearly all the way while the other three look like they have plenty of life left in them. It's the outer drivers side pad. Also when I brake hard I feel a slight vibration in the pedal and it sounds like it's originating from the front drivers side area. What's the most likely culprit here?

That article is exactly what I needed. My google search turned up all sorts of info (most of it was wrong) But that article seems to hit the nail right on the head. My brakes have been rough like this for a few years now, so I've gathered that I need just go ahead and replace pads and rotors, then break them in correctly to avoid this problem again. Thanks for the quick response!

I have also used sylvania halogen sealed beams with good results. Kinda a nice inexpensive upgrade.
