Rear hatch wiring
Hello everyone, while opening up the hatch to my car, the passenger side strut popped off, and along with it came the connector to the thin wire running through the pillar by the rear "seats". Earlier today I took off the panel that covers the pillar and after a lot of fuddling about, I noticed that the thin wire comes back through the body (right below the window), and it looks like it goes further into the bowels of the car, under more of the carpeting/seats.
I haven't had a cold enough day to test out the defroster to see if it's a part of that circuit, but part of me thinks it might not be, based on some scarce reading I've been able to dig up on the subject. The closest part I've been able to find is 477971263B. The Porsche parts catalog says I need two of these, and at first it would appear to be true, but this part is completely different, and too short, compared to what I've seen coming from the passenger side strut. Any ideas on what I'm looking at here, and what it's function is? I have a feeling I'll only be replacing it whenever I manage to get the cash/time to get new carpeting in the car.

Hi, the thin wire is the ground side of the rear interior light circuit, it goes to the slide switch mounted on the 'passenger' strut (right hand side looking from rear of car), 'drivers' side in UK. There are also two short thicker earth cables that complete the hatch glass heater circuit. One at the top of the strut to the tab on the glass, and one at the bottom that should go directly to a chassis ground that is usually located under the trim.
Hope that helps.
