Hi,

i need electrical guru:car is a 944 89' so it have only electric opening for rear hatch.

-rear hatch open with the swich in the front of driver
-rear hatch don't want to open direct with kay

the kay tuns ok and touch the microswitch. The microswitch is tested and is ok.
The sunroof works good.

so the problem is the ground or wiring but i don't know where to start.
I sdupouse something with realys but don't know what to look.

Other simptoms than can have the same problem:
-voltmeter don't work
-oil presure sender is fine"0" until you start the car then go to 5 bar and stay in maximum position all the time(but you see obvious that hit the maximum and stay there)

Sounds like you need to check all the ground points for corrosion. Go on "Clarksgarage.com" website and look for the diagram. Clean the ground points and see if the problem is still there. Also, do you have normal 12 volts on the battery and are the connections clean? Low battery voltage will also cause odd problems. You say the "key" doesn't open the hatch either?

I just picked up an 87 and the hatch doesn't open either. The switch doesn't activate the lock and it doesn't unlock with the key, but that's because the pins are pinched by the locking mechanism. I tried fiddling with it today but gave up.

Climb into the hatch, undo the carpet and loosen the covers on the locks and then see if you can wiggle the locking mechanism while someone tries to unlock with the key...

Climb into the hatch and after pulling down the carpet over the release mechanism in the center of the hatch check to be sure the rods connecting to the release pins have no slipped out of the release mechanism. The release rods have a small 90 degree bend at they end that slips into the release mechanism, the 90 degree bend can work loose and then it is impossible to open the hatch by the key or with the electric mechanism. I had a similar problem and could not open the hatch either with the electric release or key. After I reconnected the connecting rods the release works both from the electric release and the key.

I'll try that trick myself. Thanks Mike.
