88' 944S with Momo Race wheel..horn no workie

I picked this car up last weekend in Ft Lauderdale and noticed the horn didn't work. After removing the wheel I saw it had one black wire which I can only assume is the power wire. There is two leads on the horn button, one labeled as an earth ground. When I ground that to the hub and have the black wire connected to the power lead nothing happens. I checked the relay and fuse and both are fine. When I push the relay to the side (towards the drivers side tire), the horn sounds? Is the relay messed up? Or what am I not understanding here? I need to figure this out to get the car inspected. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the relay plugs (tangs) are not making contact with the circuit board. I'd suggest that you take a pair of pliers and slightly twist the tangs and reinsert the relay into the circuit board. If that doesn't solve the issue, you might consider getting a relplacement relay from PP or on ebay. This doesn't sound like a major issue (unless you live in NYC where everyone seems to lean on their horns). I have the same wheel on my '87 944 N/A and I think It's real cool.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

when you connected the black wire and grounded the wheel did you connect it back onto the hub? Sometimes the wheel needs to be connected (grounded) for it to work. Just a thought.

I had a Momo wheel on my 86 944, the horn contact under the wheel didn't match the contact ring installed in the wheel. I went back to a stock wheel because a horn is required to pass inspection NC.

Try a jumper wire from the contact to ground, if the horn works the problem is probably as I had. You may be able to bend the contact enough to make it work.
