Thermo Switch Part Number?

Noticed on the ride home today that my fans are coming on a little later than I like. I saw on Pelican that they have a 102 deg switch listed. Is this the best temp? Can I get a colder switch?

Lowest one I've seen is an 80(C) from perf prod.

Factory part is 944.606.481.00

Is that number for the 80? And in your vast experience is the 80 the right way to go?

Nope, that isn't for the 80 - Porsche does not support it, sell it or endorse it (to my knowlege)

Put one on mine along with an 80 thermostat, the fans kick on just before the 3/4 mark in stop and go traffic, the car runs just below the 1/4 mark under normal driving conditions.

The only drawback I've seen is that the fans do tend to run more often - especially in stop and go/parking lot driving.

The Porsche dealer sold me #951.606.481.00 for my '86NA. They said it was alright for my car and it has.

i got the low temp switch and thermostat for my 83 n/a and it worked great. i just got both for my 86 951, but havent put them in yet. i figured if you do the thermostat also the fans wont run as much.

Well I just did all of that a month back. New water pump, radiator, hoses, thermostat and such. But I used the original fan switch. Now it seems to be going out. I would hate to have to do the thermostat again, what a pain in the ass.

i hear that. thats why my new stuff is not in yet. ive convinced myself i have to buy a new tool to do it. i have no snap ring pliers
