Headlights wont come up!
Hi Guys, was wondering if you could help me figure this out.
A couple of night ago, after stopping at a store on the way home the headlights would not pop up at all , they were working fine just before. I replaced the fuse but still no luck, what should I look for next? Thanks so much |

The relay on the headlight motor, perhaps. Do the lights come on but stay down?

You can raise them manually too
In case you didn't know, in a pinch you can pull the "boot" dust cover off the headlight motor (where the relay is) and there is a knob that you can turn to manually raise the headlights. As for your problem, the relays and grounds if it is not the fuse, then the motor. Be sure to clean and re-grease the linkages every few years, it makes it easier on the mechanism which would draw fewer amps through the relays than dry, rusty, high friction linkages. Good luck and have fun.

Sounds like a motor issue. I would try the relay on the motor itself first--I've heard that it's a major cause of this problem.

I had this issue, was the relay. +1 On manually raising the headlights with the knob on top of the motor. Very cool

Sometimes just removing and replacing the relay will make things work, Check out the link below from 944Foot2thefloor.com.

So I haven't posted on this forum before, I'm usually on the 911 tech site, but did you check for a bad fuse? There are a total of three fuses on the later 944's. One for driving the lights up #37(7.5amp), one to drive them down #16(7.5amp) and a 25amp #2 for the motor. I just sorted mine out, the PO had pulled the relay that's located on the motor unit next to the connector and had been opening and closing them manually. I cleaned and lubed the motor drive, replaced the relay and confirmed that all three fuses were good. Warren
