Fuel pump cover (the one inside the cover)

87 944 NA

the fuel pump has a cover/sleeve with a huge hose clamp on it. Before I cut this rusted clamp off to put a new one on, is it integrated into the cover? It seems not to come loose. It seems it cannot be separated.

Perhaps it is severe corrosion?

It just loops through two slots. Yours must be corroded on there pretty good.

I just got around to this having my brand new hose clamp ready to go. indeed, it is a simple hose clamp. I cut the clamp band, everything came apart nicely. the clamp was rusted to death all sort of impregnated on the cover. what a mess. gotta be careful with the rotary tool.
