Heater valve on the early cars
My heater valve body split in half a while back and I need to get a new valve. How many others have had theirs split and does a new one from pelican hold up well? I'd hate to replace it just to have it split again in the near future.
Any insight? |

Interesting. The early 944 & the 924S use the same heater control valve.
I replaced mine in Jan. 2007 when I replaced the head gasket in the '87 924S. It had a trace of dried coolant but not "split." I bought the OEM from Pelican and no problems. Pelican Parts - Product Information: 944-572-085-02-M53 If you are worried--do not go cheap aftermarket and get the OEM. J_AZ

My valve was still okay after 26 years and I replaced with a new OEM to be preventative and it's still good as well

Mine was still good, but I just replaced it. They do fail a lot on the 968 because they're right above the exhaust manifold. The hall sender connector fell apart and they are right next to each other, so I figured it wouldn't be long before it failed too.

I've never had one fail, but it has been replaced.

Mine failed on my 83 but only as a result of drastic overheating. It's the only one I've seen fail.

The original in my 86' was still "ok", but I did replace it with a new OEM one from Pelican when I had the motor out in August.

I replaced mine with the Pelican one about 3 years ago and no problem so far.
