The birth of a new magazine about 924 928 944 968...introducing flüssig
There's a serious problem with what our Porsche magazine selection has to offer these days...and you all know what it is.
I love 911s, but I also love the 924, 928, 944, and 968. And you know what? I'm fed up with every magazine serving up the infernal 911 in different ways. As much as I love the crown jewel of Porsche, there are far more interesting stories to be told about our favorite pre-'95 water-pumpers and I ain't seeing them. I tried to write about them as much as I could and although lots of publishers have been very accommodating in pushing these articles through...it's just not enough. I understand the game, the trends, and the demand for this sort of material but lots of us who own these seemingly unloved cars have to wait in anticipation every month or 2 only to be disappointed. The magazines just fall short in serving up a satisfying portion of the cars we love. It's time to change that. It leaves me no choice but to publish our own magazine. I've been talking to Jim Doerr (JADZ928), Matt Mariani (The Fixer), Derrick Bass (editor of 928OC's Thrumble) and Roger, yes that Roger from 928sRus over on Rennlistfor a bit now about the idea and they're pretty enthusiastic about it. The focus is on 924, 928, 944, and 968 specifically. It'll be a magazine written by enthusiasts and owners for enthusiasts and owners, in a sense, our magazine. It'll be irreverent, humorous, educational, entertaining...no limits on what to say or how to say it. It'll have real stories of real cars, driven, maintained, and modified by down to Earth owners like yourselves. The more patina the better, perfection is not the sole premise. Your passion, ideas, knowledge, and contributions are completely inspirational and from the heart. It's only fair that we bring this out into the public for those that may not know much about these cars and perhaps hesitant to pull the trigger on owning what I consider the sweetest and smoothest of Porsches made before 1995. I called it flüssig (German for fluid, smooth) because I think it best describes the driving experience of these cars, their fluid design, and, of course how they're cooled. The stories will come from you all. Your cars, your knowledge, your ideas, your, opinions...anything you've got to contribute will be put on these pages. Say it like you want to, there's no 'house style.' Need help putting your words down? No problem, I'll help. Remember, it's a magazine solely made from your contributions...not third party writers or photographers. This thread will be about the creation of this magazine, so I'd like to know your thoughts and input and who would like to contribute in getting this project off the ground.... I've included a mock-up of a cover to get a little feel of what direction this magazine will take.I'll also be putting a mock-up together of the first issue in weeks time to get some opinions, ideas, whatever. Thanks guys, everyone here has been and continues to be the inspiration behind this project. Let's get these cars the recognition they deserve. It's all about you. I've already started this thread over on the 928 side on rennlist: The birth of a new magazine about 924 928 944 968...introducing flüssig - Rennlist Discussion Forums ![]() |

That is wonderful news... Please be sure to keep in mind all 4 cylinder water cooled guys N Gals here as we are always the last to be mentioned in most 911 mag publications. I have not seen any mention of this forum in any publication period. Blessings...

Still not tracking, is this going to be a PAPER magazine, or an ONLINE magazine?

This makes me want to go buy a 924 and write a series on the super-budget Porsche.

I'm also interested in contributing. I own an early 911 and still favor the front engine cars.

I don't get it. Now I assume it's going to be a e-mag, but why? Isn't this exactly what a forum is? If anything, maybe make a sub forum called "story telling"? If this is a paper mag I'm all for it, at any cost. I love print magazine, but something thats e-mailed, no thanks, not really a point.

Hi
Do you need a UK correspondent, with access to current market values, the number of each model still on the road , and also the number owned but off the road(as distinct from in the junk yard).

I will be a contributor. My first story on spraying NOS into my inter-cooler should be ready soon!

The difference between a magazine and a forum are substantial. A magazine, whether on line or print, would have writers and an editor and would publish polished content of the writers. A forum is ad hoc and can be contributed to by any member. I think a magazine, either web or printed, is a marvelous idea. Maybe our hosts here would even buy some advertising?

Thanks everyone, we really do appreciate the support! Those who've expressed interest in contributing, PM sent.
We are indeed going to be both digital and print, but the quality of the print magazine will be super high...coffee table grade. We're still in the process of putting it all together, accumulating stories, writers, images, etc. and would love to hear from you all eventually. Shoot me a PM if anyone else is interested. I also apologize for taking this long to post this project here, as you can imagine, there's tons going on. In fact, we've yet to present this on the 928 and 944 Turbo side... pablo |
