Home Depot Quick fix

Broke my ac/alt belt tensioner replacing my belts. Had to wait to get one for $77.00. Used this $ 3.47 cent fix from Home Depot while I waited.

Stayed nice and tight the whole time. Here it is just before I replaced it with the

Love it! My tensioner once fell off the car on a 200 mile trip. There was a loud thud, then out the back it went when I was about 50 miles in. Never kicked the belt.

Cat 5 cable tied to the compressor put enough tension on the belt to get me by for weeks. However, I did and still do have a one inch shorter belt. I did replace the cat 5 with the correct tensioner.

With my background in construction, I often wonder what fixes for the car I can find at the hardware store.

Meanwhile, a friend who has always been in the car business often wonders what the auto parts store has when a problem at his house arises.

Thats real slick. Mine happened in the middle of a 1200 mile trip. I used a bunch of coat hangers, your idea is much better. Not to mention much more secure... actually it wasnt my tensioner that broke it was the ear on the compressor

I had that same thing on my 924S when my original tensioner wasn't there one day. Worked exactly the same as the tensioner for a whole year before she had an engine fire.
