Hatch is popping open while driving...
After replacing the steering rack and a few other odds and ends Im finally able to drive my new toy, 85.5 944 .. But while driving you can see the hatch pop up and down on the left side. I have tried pushing it down all the way but it will come out on that side with very little resistance, or the first bump in the road :) Tried adjusting the stud but it has no effect..
I did notice that the hatch is missing that seal that runs between those little studs that go into the car. There is no water leakage and the seal that surrounds the hatch opening on the car is fine. Has anyone else gone through this and have any suggestions? Im hopeing to get this rectified before I get the subs installed. |
Check the latch that the stud goes into. It is possibly worn or needs to be adjusted.

The missing seal is probably preventing the pin from engaging the latch.
You may also want to clean out the latch mechanism. they tendo to collect dirt and bind up. AFJuvat |
After tinkering with some spare parts that the old owner left for me i found out the solution. The stud with the mushroom head is too small. I think the mushroom head has been worn out or the mechanism that the stud goes into is worn. I changed the stud with one that I found in the box of parts that is much "fatter" and it worked perfectly.. Its such a change no longer hereing all that noise when I'm driving. :)
