Pin size early fuse block.
 

Hello I'm trying desperatly to figure put which pins to order to rebuild block A (yellow) on my '83 944. The dealerships and shops near me have been less than helpful. I can order a new 20-22 pin housing but it comes sans female sockets so has anyone done this and which parts numbers did you ae or did you find sone somewhere else? Thanks in advance guys looking forward to joining the ranks when she hits the road

I've done all this and it's not easy. Rebuild a burned fuse box from the inside out and replaced the blue plug and alot of other burned wires... If I had the money at the time I would have bought a new fuse pannel, I think they are going for around 120-135 USD.. other than that, the plugs from old same year vw rabbits and their #2 D truck counterparts have almost identical plug sizes and pin sizes.. only difference is the vw pins aren't built as well as the porsche pins... porsche looks like they are build out of low noble plating and have a possitive pressure spring collar on the female pins.. ...

The VW pins look like tinned brass...

you pretty much just want to go the route of getting good used parts from donor 944 cars.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately there is less than an abundance of 944 924 scrap cars around here. I'v yet to find any on the east coast. I was lucky enough to have 2 spare fuse panels in the box that came with the car. Actually there were a few goodies spare computer coils fuel pumps and like 5 headlight switches.
But until i get that block fixed no way of knowing if any are usable. I'v narrowed down 90% of my issues to this block so once i can figure out a way to make a brand new one or find a donor the electrical part of the project, she at a stand still. Looks like a winter of upholstery.

Some are burnt and some are broken tried a couple of quick fixes but nothing seems to keep it working

the main thing is finding out why the got burnt in the first place.. fixing that issue, then fixing the plugs and connections.. I gotta couple things on my plate plus the holiday but I'll check my notes on the yellow plug/pinout after that to see if I can find anything that might help point you in the right direction... Might try and get in touch with IDEOLA here on the list for used spares regarding the wiring plugs at the back of the main fuse board.

The pin part #'s are listed in the PET so you should be able to order them from a dealer. I suggest you look up the numbers for the puns you want and order from Sunset, they are helpful and cheap. iirc all the pins are listed on one page of the PET in the electrical section. Another good source of Porsche electrical parts is eagleday.com

Found the pins can order them from auto atlanta at 1$ a pin ships to canada for sure and obviously US. now just need to figure out how to remove those pins.

Random Idea on removing the Pins in the fuse blocks. I have this screw driver that has a "screw for an end. If you are very careful and have replacement pins you can thread this in the bottom side and push the pins out. A lot cheaper than a 70$ tool!.... be warned you need to be careful or it will embed the connection into the housing and or strip the socket. I know not the right way to do things but when you work in a driveway you use what you can.
