944 windshield wipers

Working to revive a previously unloved 1987 Porsche 944. Drivers side windshield wiper seems to have lost spring pressure and the wiper blade is not held tight to the windshield. New wiper arms are absurd at $160 each! Any options? Would per 1985 944 wiper arms work? There does not seem to be anything special with these arms.

IDK

But

can you get adequate springs at the local HW store? I ask out of interest not because I restored any.

I wouldn't buy any springs from hardware stores unless you can ensure that they won't rust. Additionally, you won't know if the spring tension will be enough or too much. I see them periodically on ebay and I'd even consider wiper arms from other models to compare with. If you can find someone with an older 911 or 928 to try out, I'd do that. I would venture to say that there haven't been any changes in the windshield wipers over the course of the 944 production run as the windshields haven't changed, but I could be wrong about that since in 1985 1/2 they went to a windshield enclosed radio antenna and may or maybe not have changed the wiper design.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Just bend the arm ever so slighty and you'll be fine.
