Need Bakes Asap

Hello, I have a 1985 944 NA and am in need of rotors and pads. I have sourced a set of Wagner MX443 at my local Advance Auto for $44.99 F/$36.99 R. And also Tirerack Hawk HPS Street Pad for $98 F/ $79 R. My intent is to use the vehicle as a daily driver with maybe a track day...or two lol. Wondering whats the consensus is on the fourm?

Thank You,
Adam

I'd go with the Hawks.

Also check ********.com for prices on parts, sometimes they can beat your local parts stores.

Any brake package sold by Pelican

For a daily driver any brake pad set available on Pelican will suit your purpose. Once you are racing, then you may want to be more precise. They are a simple DIY change and an average set is pretty cheap. Some people say that ceramics are fussy to cold temps, so remember to take that into consideration. alternatively, you could "warm" them by pressing them a few times upon a new journey.

I use my 86 as a daily driver and sometime track car. I warped a set of new rotors using a set of basic Mintex pads. I had the rotors turned and switched to Hawk blue. Now my brakes squeak a little, but they have great stopping power and I've never warped rotors since.

How did you 'warp' the rotors

Gawernator,
Sorry. I reread my post and can see how it was unclear. I warped the rotors at a Porsche Drivers Ed track event. Two days of driving at CMP here in SC. I think it was my third weekend event and I was probably abusing the brakes pretty badly.

The original thread said he was planning on some track events so I thought my experience was applicable.

Rotor warping often occurs after a hard full stop due to localised heat soak if you dont release the the brakes immediately.

That was an interesting article. Ok so I was correct on the cause of uneven brake rotor surface but incorrectly described the process as warping instead of pad material uneven deposition due to localised heat caused by not releasing the brakes immediately after a hard stop.
