I had a 1979 924 with wiring problems.. after spending about $700 and getting nowhere, I decided to part it.

I currently have a '79 and it just sits, I had a huge wrestling match regarding the CIS fuel system and emissions testing. I believe I got it straightened out to pass the test, but I just lost enthusiasm and am devoting all my time to the 951. To me, the 924 just doesn't offer enough return for the effort, as my time and funds are limited. I won't part it out, but I'm finding it hard to bother with the agonizing process of selling it! if you can get over the purist slant, you can make a hell of a car. the 924 has the recipe for a great sports car down. the lightest of the transaxle family, most of the body/interior/suspension is shared/interchangeable with the 944 so it is available. as far as the engine goes, parts are in short supply. if there were ever a car ready for an engine swap...this would be it. you don't need to go to a big v8 in a 924 because they are so light and skinny-tired...a newer aluminum 4-cylinder or even a V6 would go a long way in one of those cars. | ||

I sold my '79 924 to the EPA on a $600 buy back junker removal program years ago. I was told I could keep my radio and I put a rotten set of tires on bent rims. Ran solid and no starting issues. Fuel relay overheated in stalled traffic on 105 degree days. My vote-----sell. J_AZ
