944/924 Body Mods
I know most people think it is a sin to mod out the body of a 944 (and 924) and make it look like a GT, but I myself kinda like the look. I have been looking at options not only for a sportier look for my 944S, but to help air flow into the custom MAF system I made for it (finally broke down and made the mount/bracket myself). I found this nice piece of work while surfing the web, and wanted to know if anyone had seen a hood/rear quarter panels like this before. I am really liking this look.

I think the hood looks cool and the front upper nose. The other seems to be a little overkill.

Umm, with a 944S, what good would the hood scoop be? I can understand the driver side NACA duct, since thats most likely where the MAF is routed, or potentially under the header panel, so the vents there also make sense, but whats the point of the non-functional hood scoop and passenger side NACA duct?
Subjectivity leads me to say that I think it's quite ugly...but as always, to each his own, so if you like go for it....I wouldn't ruin the clean lines of a beautiful 951 (or a 944 for that matter) by putting all that crap on there....one NACA duct maybe...but thats a big maybe.... Again, to each his own, no offense intended and I think that AIR or GT Racing offers products such as that hood.

Side note, but didn't even the 86 951 have the faired-in windshield antenna? Notice the quarter panel mounted antenna and the apparently early offset Fuchs....Granted the 86 951 had the early offset, but IIRC, it had the windshield antenna...am I wrong or Is this an early NA with a ghastly amount of body mods, or perhaps a 924 with the same?
Hmm...

Actually the MAF is on the opposite side. I am installing a similar scoop, but on the drivers side to feed into the MAF I have built along with the vented nose panel which also will feed the system. I need as much cold air into the system as possible, as I am adding NOS and need to keep my exhaust temp down, and every little bit helps.
I like the look of the dual NACA ducts, but you are right, they are pointless.

This is a pre 86, that rules the possibility of this being a turbo out...
Other clues are the windshield is inset, rain gutters are the early style, and the windshield washers are also the early type. Ahmet |

Sternn, where you at in Richmond? I am also in Richmond. Have you ever heard of Krynock porsche service? he is a friend of mine.
I have a NOS setup for my 951. Another friend of mine has started a Porsche club here in Richmond> it is the WEPC if you are interested. He also has a 944S. Did you install a cone filter kit, or a MAF that places a Mass Air Flow sensor in lieu of the factory airflow meter?

I just bought a house over here in the Fan (Oregon Hill actually, but the Fan sounds better
). I saw the website for the club and have been emailing Peter about the cone system he threw in his 944S. I am doing the same for now, not upgrading to a new MAF sensor yet, just adding the cone for a little more HP.I left my friend Matthew do the wrench work on my car. He is good and has his own shop (www.sportscarsltd.com) right on Cary about a block from my house. It's there now, and I just got my new valve guides today so the head should be done by next week, and the rest of the parts are in the mail and hopefully they will be in by next week so I can get it on the road by October (we have been working on it for about 5 months now). I DJ @ 929 on Thursdays - come out and drink a few next week if you want. -S

I actually gave him the parts for his cone system.
A friend of mine used to take his 911S to Matthew, he spoke very highly of him.
